Great Post Ruven!

I just wanted to add, for others reading this, that Ruven "Walks the talk". At SPSMI, I had an opportunity to present (BTW: I am a complete unknown in the community).

Not only did Ruven go out of his way to make me feel welcome, but he attended my session. To me (unknown noob) It was a very welcome show of support :-)

(Note: The other speakers there were also welcoming and encouraging.)

The community, imho, is like a giant family. You may have a few aunts, uncles, etc that do not see eye to eye on everything... You may see disagreements along the way.... We all know this happens in family (and community).

Having said that, I believe that the members of the community do care deeply about it's overall health. This passion for the community is what keeps everyone engaged.

I believe that topics like this are very relevant and do lead to good ideas on community improvement and future direction.

Thanks Ruven!

Great rebuttal. Love the discussion. I see Mark's points, but I like you raise some excellent thoughts re: existing "inner circle" of experienced SharePoint experts. That is, we need to remember the "continuous improvement" cycle in contributing, feedback, and welcoming ("new") people to the community.

[...] SPTechCon: Sing(apore) for your supper Ok, that title is a bit of stretch. Here’s the explanation: Richard Harbridge and I gave a full-day workshop on Information Architecture that included over 400 slides in 8.5 hours. If that’s not ‘singing for your supper’, I don’t know … Continue Read More... [...]
